About Me
I’m a 20-year-old artist, designer, photographer and student living and working in Florida. I goto school full-time at a liberal arts college where I am currently studying for my B.A. in Visual Arts. Before college I also received lessons from artist Antonio Caparello for about two years. (He’s such a skilled artist and he pushed me to create the best art that I could; I’m thankful that I had the chance to learn from him.) From April 27th - May 2nd, 2008 I had my first opportunity to show a collection of my work publicly in my college’s annual Sophomore Show.
I’ve wanted to be an artist for as long as I can remember and I love working with just about anything I can get my hands on. Lately it’s been acrylic and watercolor, but I also love working with pastel, pencil, charcoal, pen and ink, Photoshop, etc. The artwork I create is mainly inspired by my dreams and other various images that get stuck in my head until I find a way to release them through my work. Other times, the finished pieces are simply the result of sitting down and letting my mind wander and daydream as I draw…
Usually it takes me awhile before I can truly open up to and become trusting of someone. However, if you’re a friend to me, I’ll be one to you.
I like to think of myself as an open minded, shy, and creative individual. My dream is to have my own studio one day, filled with all the art supplies I could ever need, where I could just sit and create whatever I’d like for hours on end. I aspire to become fluent in French one day and to own a million cats.
I enjoy learning about human behavior and finding beauty in things most people do not. My weakness and addiction in life is Slurpees!
About The Site
This website was designed and coded by me using Wordpress with some help from the tutorials found here. It is probably best viewed using Firefox version 3.0.1 as that is what I used when I was designing and testing it.
What does the name Officially Dead mean? It’s the title of a song by the band Veruca Salt that I decided to use as a user name on their message board many years ago. I really liked the song itself and thought that the name was kinda quirky and interesting so I ended up using it as my alias on other sites and services across the net ever since. When it came time for me to pick a domain name for my website it was the natural choice, even though it might not be the best phrase to describe an art site. ;p
